Mini-Reunion

I (Vicki) began teaching at FDCS in the fall of 2001, just over 10 years ago.  In that time I have seen many students go through FDCS.  Just five years ago the students in the first FDCS class began to graduate high school and last year many of them also graduated college.  This year the students from my first third grade class will be graduating high school.  I don't know what has become of many of the former FDCS students, but I am always encouraged by the stories of those who have made it to college and are now successful young adults.

Today I had the opportunity to see two former classmates meet for the first time in years.  Tyrone and Angel were in sixth grade my first year.  They enjoyed reminiscing over old pictures of them and their classmates.

I have followed Tyrone as he has been in the local news often as a participant in various groups focused on making positive changes in Chester.  After graduating from Chester High School, Tyrone went on to Widener University.  Tyrone, his mom, and his older sister graduated from Widener last weekend.  He is hoping to go to medical school in the fall.

After graduating high school, Angel went to Philadelphia Biblical University.  She is also just finishing her first year as director of Frederick Douglass Christian School's after school program.

My prayer is that God continues to work in the lives of these and other FDCS Alumni and that they will continue to be leaders here in Chester.
