A surprise party

Today I (Vicki) was enjoying the beautiful weather and doing some yard work.  While I was working Ali came up.  Ali is a frequent visitor to our house.  She is coming to the end of her fourth grade year and wanted to tell me about her fourth grade trip to an amusement park.  She also mentioned that tomorrow is her birthday.  I asked her if she was doing anything, she wasn’t sure.  I don’t think anyone had implied that they would be doing anything.  

After she left I made a point to plan to pick something small up to give her for her birthday and to make a cake or cupcakes with her when she stops by tomorrow or Saturday.

Later in the evening I was feeding Lizzy and an excited group of kids and teens stopped by the house.  It was Ali’s older sister and brother and some cousins.  They were getting ready to throw a surprise party for her and needed some plates and cups.  Their joy in putting this party on for their sister made me smile.  I hope that Ali has a wonderful surprise birthday party.  I look forward to hearing about it tomorrow.
