Praying for Highland Gardens

Tom and I live in the Highland Gardens neighborhood in Chester, PA.  We have been involved in the community since 2007 and have lived here since 2011.  Many of our friends wonder why we live here as the neighborhood is known for crime and drugs.  But we have met many wonderful and hardworking people who live here.

As I have written in recent weeks, every morning that I can I load up Lizzy and Lilly and set out for a walk.  As I walk I pray for my neighbors and say hi to people that we meet.

This blog entry is the first in what I hope to become a weekly prayer and praise update so that you, our friends and partners in ministry, will know and be able to join us in praying for our city, our neighborhood, and our family.

Praise

• Our Neighborhood: So far the summer has started safely.
• Our Family: Lilly is continuing to grow.  She is now 7lbs 4oz.

Prayer

• Our City: Pray for the families affected by a deadly car accident at Highland Ave and 9th St.  A 10 year-old boy was struck and killed and another was injured when two vehicles veered onto the sidewalk after colliding on Monday.
• Our Neighborhood: Pray that as we walk in Highland Gardens we would be sensitive to the Spirit's leading and pray with those He directs us to.
• Our Family: Due to its age our car is becoming increasingly expensive to maintain, the windshield wipers broke this week amongst other things.  Pray for God's direction and provision as we search for a new vehicle.
