Celebrating God's work!
Yesterday I (Vicki) was able to celebrate with my friend, neighbor, co-worker, and sister in Christ, Joyce Story. Joyce was recently appointed Executive Pastor at Chester's Refuge in Christ Church, the first church planted by World Impact in Chester.
Joyce, an administrative assistant at the Frederick Douglass Christian School, is one of the kindest and most humble people I know. She caries the peace of God with her wherever she goes. I remember my second year as a teacher at FDCS I had a parent that was not happy with a decision that I had made regarding their child. The parent was so upset that I was brought to tears. Joyce came alongside me and helped me calm down. There were also a number of times that I had students who were angry and upset. I would send them to Joyce and she would talk calmly with them, help them see the situation clearly, and then they would return to class
During the service people recounted over and over how Joyce had cared for them at different points in their lives and how she has been an example of what it means to follow Christ. The most touching moment was when her grandson DJ shared that she is his role model.
God is doing some amazing things though His people here in Chester!
While I was at Joyce's service, Tom was grilling for the Joni and Friends Family Fun Day at FDCS.
Fun at our house this week!

Praises
- Our Neighborhood: Joyce's confirmation as Executive Pastor!
- Our Family: We had more interaction with some of our Hispanic neighbors this week, mostly because of Lizzy and Lilly.
Prayer
- Our City: Unity and peace among the many churches in Chester. That churches will see each other as fellow members of the body of Christ, not as competition for members.
- Our Neighborhood: For the teens who are going to Harmony Heart Camp this week, that they will know God more through their time at camp.
- Our Family: That we will not be hindered from meeting with Alpha on Tuesday. Last week we were not able to go because Lizzy wasn't feeling well.
Thank you so much for partnering with us!
Tom, Vicki, Lizzy, and Lilly
