November Prayer Letter

November 1, 2013

Dear Friends,

We have spent the last two months focusing on building our team of prayer and financial partners. Building this team will help us in our work of increasing the Kingdom of God. You have become partners with us, and we are very grateful that you are joining us in the building of His Kingdom. You have humbled Vicki and me with your willingness in this. Without you and your prayers, God’s work cannot go on in Chester.

We are beginning to see hearts opening up to the gospel because of you. It has now been two years since Glen and I began holding Sunday night basketball games in the gym at Frederick Douglass Christian School. Every week, thirty to forty men show up to play. Since September, we have begun to see some of the men show interest in the gospel.

Recently we took two of the men, “Bryon” and “Keenan,” out to lunch. During our conversation, they began to talk about a girl they knew that worked in a funeral home. Bryon said, “I don’t know how anyone could work around all those dead bodies.” To this Glen replied, “We are all appointed to die,” and then he went on to share the gospel with the men. Later that day, Keenan called Glen and had a lot more questions.

Bob” is another guy we have met through basketball. When we first met him he claimed to be Muslim. Lately he has changed his story, saying he did not want to offend the people he was living with. Glen has regularly been offering to have a Bible study with the guys, and now Bob is asking Glen when they can start. Currently they are working on finding a day and time that works for them to meet.

God has brought these men to us so that Christ can walk across to their hearts. He will make some of them leaders of churches that He will plant in Chester. You and your prayers are crucial as we continue to build relationships and share Christ with the men.

Please pray:

  • That God will increase our faith as we continue in the journey of building our partner team.
  • That Bryon, Keenan, and Bob will continue to seek Christ and come to know Him.
  • That our team will continue steadfastly in prayer over the church that we are seeking to plant.

Prayerfully,

Tom, Vicki, Lizzy, and Lilly
