February Prayer Letter
February
1, 2014
Dear
Friends,
Prayer...conversation
with God; acknowledgement of who He is and that He is ultimately in
control, even when life seems out of control; bringing our requests
before Him; passionately seeking Him to be revealed in the lives of
others.
Prayer
should be the fabric of our lives, but it is so easy go throughout a
day with out giving it much of a thought. In December, God reminded
me that it is not just something I (Vicki) have to do as I follow
Him; it is necessary in the intense spiritual battle that we are a
part of every day.
Alpha
is a dear friend and one of the ladies we would like to see become
part of the church we are planting. One cold December evening I
drove over to her house. She enjoys visiting with the girls and I
each Tuesday. This is a highlight in her week because her third
shift job keeps her from going to church and spending time with
family. Her car was there but when I knocked on her door there was
no answer. This was the second week in a row that this happened and
I walked away downcast. As I got back into my car God said, “This
is a spiritual battle, pray hard.”
The
next day we found out that she had been working every day for two
weeks and would continue to do so until the end of the year. This
meant that she would be unable to attend the Christmas Eve service we
were planning and that the girls and I would not be able to visit.
We had been praying with her that her schedule would be changed and
were discouraged that instead of things getting better, things got
worse.
Should
we be surprised by this? No, Satan does not want this church to
succeed. He does not want a strong Christian like Alpha to be part
of this church. Alpha is just one of a number of people we would
like to see become part of this new body. Each one has faced
different struggles that have threatened to keep them from being
involved.

Thank
you for joining us as we, like Paul in Colossians 1:9-12, never cease
praying on behalf of Alpha and the others that He is calling to this
church.
Blessings
in Him,
Tom,
Vicki, Lizzy, and Lilly
Update: We finally connected with Alpha yesterday, Feb 4. She is doing well but has been very busy with work. We hope to visit with her in two weeks, around Feb. 21. As an answer to our prayers she will begin having Fridays and Saturdays off on Feb 21.
