March Prayer Letter
March
1, 2014
Dear
Friends,
First,
we would like to say welcome to those who have been faithful partners
with our friend Andrew Lee and have now joined our team of partners.
Andrew and his family are dear friends of ours and we are excited to
see how God will use him in his new journey with Prison Fellowship.
In
January we began our new church plant. The first week of Bible study
no one was able to come. The following week Elena was the only
person who was able to come. We have known Elena for a long time.
Elena’s children have attended a variety of World Impact teen and
Bible clubs throughout the last twenty years. Her two youngest
children attended the Frederick Douglass Christian School and were in
Vicki’s very first fifth grade class. Vicki lived across the
street from Elena for five years and she was able to help Elena and
her family out at various times by giving them rides.
In
2012 Elena’s youngest son was killed unexpectedly and our church
plant team has stood by her and her family, providing help and
support where needed. Elena continues to struggle daily with the
pain of the loss. God, through our team, is giving her a hope in the
midst of her struggles. The week Elena came to Bible study we were
able to pray with her and encourage her that God would be with her as
she keeps moving forward.
God
is working not only in Elena’s life, but also in that of her
family. Her daughters and grandsons have participated in a variety
of events during the Christmas season, including our Christmas Eve
service. The week after Elena came, her daughter Dawn joined us. As
we were leaving Bible study, she asked where she could get a copy of
the worship songs. Her sons have been wanting to listen to them ever
since the Christmas Eve service. I was able to give her the songs
for her to take home that day.
Please
Pray:
- For Elena to know the joy and peace that only God can give in the midst of her pain.
- For the hearts of Elena and her family to continue to be soft to the Gospel.
- For continued wisdom and we seek to plant a Kingdom focused church.
In
His Precious Name,
