Welcome Spring!

After a seemingly endless winter, spring has sprung!  Wednesday the girls and I took our first walk in the warm weather.

Some friends we met on the way!
Spring is one of my favorite times of the year!  It is a season full of renewed hope.  In January we started our church with one consistent person.  I was tempted to discouragement many times as the people we originally targeted for our church were not able to come.  My hope has been slowly renewed as young men and women from our Wednesday Bible study have begun to consistently attend on Sundays as well.

"Matt" has become a regular at just about everything we do.  The neat thing about "Matt" is that I met him at a youth Bible study when he was only 8 years old.  At that time his home life was unstable and that was reflected in an attitude that was quick to become angry.  "Matt" and his family were part of our Highland House church plant and as a result his life became more stable.

When Tom joined staff in 2007 he began mentoring "Matt."  He worked with "Matt" for about a year.  At that time "Matt" liked doing fun stuff like basketball, but could have cared less about doing Bible study.  During most of his early teens Matt was consumed with sports, especially basketball.  Whenever we would ask about him, his mom would tell us how well he was doing in school and in sports.

When Tom and Glen started opening up the gym at FDCS for guys 18 and over to play basketball, "Matt" would show up and try to convince them that he was 18 when he was only 16.  Last October "Matt" finally turned 18 and was able to come to basketball.  Now he regularly attends church on Sundays and is listens intently to the Word.  Recently he went to the gym with Glen and accidentally stepped out in front of a car.  The person in the car was upset at him, but "Matt" didn't let the issue bother him.  He later told Glen, "the old me would have gotten upset and yelled back."

Tom and I have been encouraged to see how God is working in "Matt's" life and in the lives of those who are attending our church.  This spring are hearts are full of renewed hope in what God is doing here!

recent church service

As we enter the week of Easter please join us in prayer for our Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter services!  Pray that hearts will be open and willing to receive the message of the Gospel and that we will be bold as we proclaim it.  Pray also for Tom, Glen will be away until April 17 so Tom will be giving the message at church on Sunday afternoon as well as leading basketball and Wednesday Bible study.

Thank you so much for joining with us in prayer!
