September Prayer Letter
September 1, 2014
Dear Friends,
When the sun comes up and touches the flowers, they open up and live. That is how the Son touches the hearts of people. Ji’yon is a young man that I(Tom) have seen the Son change. I first met Ji’yon six years ago when he began coming to homework club when he was seven. At that time he was quite a handful. He had difficulty sitting down and would antagonize other kids.
We took him to camp the following summer and he got into a fight with his brother. We talked to them and both said it would not happen again. Unfortunately, I found Ji’yon trying to start a fight with a boy in his cabin later that night. Due to his behavior, we had to send him home. It was a difficult time for both of us. Many times in the following year he would come up to me and say, “you sent me home.”
Ji’yon has come a long way since that first summer. Each year since, he has been able to go to camp. I have enjoyed watching him grow into a young man who is listening to the Word of God. This summer he told his mom that he likes to go to camp, “to learn about God.” Our prayer is that he continues to go to camp each summer and that one day he will work there as a teen.
The neat thing about Ji’yon’s growth in Christ is that his family has begun coming to church regularly. He attends church with his mom, participates in worship, and pays attention to the sermons. His mom, Dawn, says, “I enjoy seeing (my) kids participate in worship and asking questions about the sermon.” Dawn herself wakes up each Sunday morning with joy as she gets her family ready for church.
Please join us in praying for Dawn, Ji’yon, and their family. Pray for wisdom for Dawn as she leads her family in following Christ. Pray also that each member of their family will come to know the joy that Christ can bring as He touches their hearts with His love.
In Christ,
