Summer Camps
The highlight of every summer is taking kids, families, and teens to Harmony Heart Camp. This trip has made a lasting impact on many families.
Sherman was a student at FDCS the first time he went to Kids Camp. He had so much fun that he talked about camp for an entire year afterwards. He talked about it so much that his mother, Christina, decided to take the entire family to Family Camp the next year. She enjoyed getting the family away from the hustle and bustle of the city to a place where her kids could play with no restrictions and where everyone is looking out for each other's kids.
Lavada brought her two granddaughters, her sister and her two nieces to family camp. She says that camp, "allowed us to go together to a place where we can worship God." Whenever I see Lavada or other members of her family, they can't stop talking about camp.
Zhane has gone to teen camp the last 3 years. She said that when she first began to come to camp she was "shutting down" and kept telling people "get outta my face!" In the years following she began to make friends and last year participated in worship. "It's life changing," she says, "it's fun, they put God and games together."
Nadayah has gone to Kid's Camp, Family Camp, and Teen Camp. She says camp is a place where you learn about God and "when you learn about God, you learn that someone cares for you. You don't put yourself down."
Harmony Heart Camp is World Impact's camp on the East Coast. Families are able to go to camp for as little as $10 a day per person. The rest of the cost is funded by generous donations. This year World Impact has received a matching grant, so that any gift given towards summer camps would be doubled.
If you would like to help kids and families go to camp this summer you can send a check to World Impact, make sure to include the note "summer match- Chester," and your gift will be doubled. You gift can be sent to World Impact, Inc 700 Central Ave, Chester, PA 19013.
